ORIENTAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE
About Us
Established in 1939 by the management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Oriental Research Institute was transferred to Sri Venkateswara University in 1956 to expand its scope and modernize its operations. Comprising two wings – the Research Wing and Library Wing – we house a vast collection of manuscripts and printed books.
Our Library boasts an impressive collection of 16,948 manuscripts and 50,000 printed books. Each publication is thoughtfully selected to support the research endeavors of our institute, covering various facets of Indian tradition.

The primary aim of our research is to develop comprehensive and dependable sources such as historical dictionaries, anthologies, encyclopedic indexes, and chrestomathies. These resources have been curated with meticulous attention to detail and authentication to ensure their value and relevance to researchers and scholars in multiple fields. Our goal is to provide high-quality reference works with a robust framework that can be applied in various contexts. We remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence and rigor in all our projects, driven by our vision to advance knowledge and understanding. We are enthusiastic about producing references that will have a lasting impact and prove useful for years to come.

Our rigorous peer-review process ensures the highest quality of articles that meet the established scientific standards. We welcome submissions from scholars and experts in the field of Indology, hailing from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Our journal promotes the facilitation of knowledge-sharing in the realm of Indology, thereby paving the way for insightful scientific discourse and innovative breakthroughs in the field.

Design
The objective of the ORI is to create detailed catalogues of the manuscripts housed in the ORI Library. These catalogues will include descriptive information about each manuscript, allowing for better organization and accessibility. Additionally, the ORI Library will maintain a manuscripts library, complete with comprehensive lists and descriptive catalogues, to further promote the dissemination of inter-disciplinary research. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to facilitate research in varied fields, leading to advanced degrees such as M.Phil and Ph.D.
